Cornino Bay

Custonaci coasts offer an inimitable natural panorama. The bay of Cornino is dominated by the grandeur of Monte Cofano, a rocky promontory that dominates the coast and preserves precious natural treasures.

Monte Cofano is a natural reserve overlooking the sea, in it many animal and plant species are preserved, as well as beautiful natural caves inhabited since prehistory.

It is the favorite place for those who love doing trekking and hiking through nature and enjoy unknown landscapes. If you prefer relaxing by the sea, the bay of Cornino welcomes you with its coves and beaches to enjoy the sea and the sun of Sicily.

Mangiapane Cave

On the hillside of Monte Cofano appears a natural cave that stores, inside of it, a small village. It is the Mangiapane Cave, which has become famous as the principal scenery of many TV series set in Sicily including "Il Commissario Montalbano" and "Makari".

In this cave some houses had been built creating a small town that remained active until the 1940s. The cave takes its name from the family that last lived in those houses and today the cave lives again thanks to the commitment of an association that has set up a real open-air museum of Sicilian peasant life. 

Today you can visit it and immerse yourself in a bygone era to relive the agricultural tradition of this corner of Sicily.

Zingaro Nature Reserve

The Zingaro Nature Reserve is located between San Vito Lo Capo and Castellammare del Golfo, not far from Custonaci. The 7 km of coastline protected by the reserve has escaped urbanization thanks to the efforts of the citizens intented not to see this natural landscape destroyed: a coastline dotted with seven coves with white pebbles makes the blue of the sea shine in contrast to the bright green of nature that surrounds it. You can visit the reserve in summer to swim in the coves or you can go in spring or autumn to walk the nature trails for a suggestive trekking excursion.

Macari Gulf

Just behind Monte Cofano appears a natural bay with a breathtaking view. The Gulf of Macari is a large inlet with a wild appearance that is just waiting to be explored.

Going to the Gulf you can enjoy beautiful beaches such as Baia Santa Margherita and coves of pebbles or rocks like Cala Isulidda or Bue Marino. You can dive into the blue sea of the Gulf of Macari by choosing a boat excursion starting from San Vito Lo Capo if you want to experience a special panoramic point of view.

San Vito Lo Capo

San Vito Lo Capo is the most famous seaside village in western Sicily. This originally sailor hamlet overlooks a white beach with fine sand and a crystalline azure sea. The landscape of San Vito Lo Capo is dominated by the imposing Monte Monaco, which overlooks the sea and frames the coastal panorama.

In San Vito Lo Capo you can enjoy a day at the beach, stroll through the streets of the village and participate in the many events that during the summer animate the town with music, food, art, literature and entertainment.
